My girl..is amazing

Yesterday was the Christmas Piano Recital for Jenna. She chose a beautiful outfit from Garage to wear- so grown up! She had a very challenging piece this year- "Christmas Tree Music Box" and she did a pretty good job. Then, since it was done earlier than expected, she asked us if we could skip the cake and after party mingling to get to the hockey practice we thought she was going to miss. So we took off to the car, zoomed home to get her changed and her gear- in the car she assigned us jobs when we got in the house! LOL! And she made half the practice too!

Here she is playing her piece:

Here she is watching the others, is it just me or are her legs super long?

Here is the group that performed this year. My girl is right there in the center!

Just about 10 minutes after the last pic in the locker room, transforming:

Her possee/team mates surprised she is there:
Intent on being ready for her turn on the drill:
All this over a period of 1 hour from recital starting to hitting the ice mid-practice.
If we ever wondered if she played hockey for the right reasons we know now the truth!

I touched the Stanley Cup!

Ok, I am still in shock. I touched the Stanley Cup. The same one that Sidney Crosby, Wayne Gretzky, Patrick Roy, Guy Lafleur, Maurice Richard, Jean Belliveau, etc.... touched......

WOW!!!

Christmas without snow

The rain took away all our snow :-( Though the weather forecast is hinting at what I love most about being a teacher after summer- SNOW DAYS!!!

Working on some Christmas projects- the December Daily Album- I have Day 1,2,3 and 4 are done. Today my girl and her friend went to public skate with SANTA and I was banned, along with my camera, from the event. Luckily, another mom was there with camera and snapped a shot of them for me! Love other moms!!! So once I get that there is my day 5!

Also picking away at my Basic Grey Calendar for 2011 for my folks. Neat concept but I think I like doing my own thing more. With a try once though.

Had hoped to get to Presque Isle today but no one was moving with any enthusisasm and there was lots to do about the house- laundry, housework and some decorating.

Here is my pride and joy this year- my advent calendar:

Top 10 Tuesday

My Top 10 Board Games from Childhood

1. Cootie
I loved this game SO MUCH. Truly my fave childhood game. I loved creating these disturbing creatures. We owned this one and I would always pick it when it was my turn on game night.
2. Payday

My neighbour had this one and I loved it so much! It was awesome!

3. Clue

This one I loved to play but we did not have it and I can't remember where I did play it.

4. Holly Hobbie

I remember getting this for Christmas and I loved it. I wanted to be Holly!

5. Battleship

This was a cool game that I played at camp, with my cousins and I liked the strategy.

6. Othello

My super cool neighbour and best friend had this and I loved it. Maybe the felt board??

7. Operation

Another game that my neighbour/bestie had and I loved to play it. Also seemed popular at parties.

8. Monopoly

We did not own Monopoly until I was much older and I think it came from my grandparents house. I played Monopoly for hours on hot summer days at my neighbours on their porch. It was so much fun. We had games that went for days sometimes.

9. Life

Loved this. Played it with several people and had my own at home. It was so fun to pretend grown up!

10. Kerplunk

Another big one at birthday parties and at my neighbour/besties house. I think I eventually conned my parents into getting this one. Loved it!

10 Things Tuesday

10 Things I Love

1. Summer

As a child I loved summer- the smell of grass, the beach, trips to Bathurst or Cape Breton, no school, late nights, drive-in movies and time! As an adult, I love summer because of no school, time with my girl, sunshine, camping, swim meets, and time!

2. Coffee

I never liked the taste of coffee in university but loved the smell. Part way through my first year of teaching I began to drink it, then love it. I am fond of the dark roasts- Guatamalen, Sumatra, etc...and I love a Vanilla Latte from Starbucks.

3. Taking Pictures

I love to take pictures- always have. Still remember my Kodak 110 and how excited I was to have my own camera. Now I love my Canon S3 IS but dream of a Canon Rebel. Regardless of the tool it is the pictures and memories I love most of all. My dad is a picture nut as was grandfather. I guess it is a Meikle thing. LOL!

4. Reading

I love to read, and read and read. Since school finished I have read 6 novels. Like candy after lent- it is so nice to read what I want to read rather than writing and textbooks, teacher guides, curriculum documents and PD articles and books.

5. Hockey

My heart belongs to the Canadiens since I was 5 years old. What a run they had this year. My daughter chose not to play initiation hockey and I had resigned myself never to be a hockey mom...then in the fall of her novice year she decided she wanted to play. Three great seasons of being a hockey mom have made me so happy and proud.

6. Scrapbooking

Taking pictures and adding the history, notes, time is something I always did with my pictures and photo albums. Now I can make it an art. LOVE learning new things. Love to scrap.

7. Grey's Anatomy

I love Cristina and Meredith. I take great joy in their relationship and the whole DER-MER love story. It makes me laugh, cry and think.

8. Glee
Love being a GLEEK. The music, the cattiness, the laughter. Happiness that I can relive through the tunes.

9. Chocolate

The darker the better. Love it.

10. Love

I love my family. My daughter makes me feel love all the time, my husband too. I am blessed. I watched the Olympics and the announcer said I love love after watching Charles Hamelin race and Mariane St Gelais cheering.

ACCOMPLISH

MY WORD FOR 2010 IS....

ac·com·plish tr.v. ac·com·plished, ac·com·plish·ing, ac·com·plish·es
1. To succeed in doing; bring to pass.
2. To reach the end of; complete

One little word...

Ok, I am trying something new. http://aliedwards.typepad.com/_a_/2007/01/aezine_challeng.html

I am trying to decide what will get my butt scrapping and exercising. Making my thoughts HAPPEN.

So I am thinking ACTION or ACCOMPLISH but now that I have typed it HAPPEN is good too. I will let you know by day's end what word I choose to make mine in 2010!
